Isn't it plausible that their futures are still valuable? Fetuses can't look forward to their futures, and this is one important reason to think that although they cannot their futures are still valuable.<br /><br /><b>Further, a sperm-and-the-egg-it-would-fertilize-it arguably has a future akin to that of a fetus. Contraception (even by abstinence!) keeps this future from materializing.</b><br /><br />The future would have to be more than "akin" to that of the fetus. The future would have to be identical to that of the future of the fetus. However, that would mean the fetus is the same individual as the sperm and the egg.
